Ngāpuhi, Ngāti Hine, Ngāti Hāmoa, Niue, Ngāti Pākehā
Vicki Campbell is an example of kaupapa in action – a community leader, youth mentor, coach, business owner, and international athlete whose life and mahi have been devoted to
empowering Māori and Pasifika rangatahi.
Whakapapa & Identity

Sporting Excellence Meets Community Heart
Vicki first represented Canterbury Women’s Rugby at age 14, before going on to represent
New Zealand, New Zealand Māori, Samoa and Niue in Touch, League, and Rugby Union.
She captained Samoa in Rugby League and Sevens, and played in the 2015 Women’s
Rugby World Cup. These experiences shaped her understanding of discipline, resilience,
teamwork and cultural pride – qualities she now instils in others.
Decades of Youth and Community Impact
- Over 14+ years with Te Ora Hou Ōtautahi, Vicki has:
- Clocked 13,440+ hours in direct contact with young people
- Completed over 8,500 home visits in Māori and Pasifika communities
- Led 400+ youth club nights and 180+ community events
- Mentored 80+ rangatahi in small group settings
- Delivered 4,104 fitness/wellbeing programmes, and created Taiohi Tū, a trauma-
- Informed HIIT programme supporting over 1,000 students after the Canterbury earthquakes
- Returned over $300,000 in funding to community through her initiatives over 5 years
She has worked with some of Christchurch’s most vulnerable rangatahi, breaking cycles and building hope with a rare combination of cultural intelligence, humility and grit.
Youth Development through Culture, Movement & Mentoring.
Whether through North Girls Club, TKW alternative education, or high-performance coaching, Vicki uses sport, storytelling and connection to guide rangatahi toward leadership
and life purpose. She brings kaupapa Māori frameworks, mana-enhancing practices, and Pasifika relational values into her work. Her mentoring has supported the journey of numerous wāhine to a who are now excelling in sport and leadership – including current sportswomen and community champions.
Entrepreneurship with Purpose
In 2017, Vicki founded F45 Papanui, the only F45 studio globally permitted to run community initiatives. Her gym has a hub for inclusive hauora, with pathways for young people who
might never otherwise access high-performance spaces. In 2024, she stepped away from F45, in response to shifting values in the brand which did not sit well with her values and set
up Mahi Tahi, working with community through a range of fitness and wellbeing initiatives.
Through her business and community collaborations, Vicki bridges health, identity and empowerment for Māori and Pasifika communities – redefining what leadership looks like in
the gym and beyond.
